Can I repeat a failed course more than once?
Updated 30/06/2023 11.57 AM
Yes. If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student and your program allows, you may repeat a course more than once.
Some programs do not allow for this, however, so check your degree requirements at programs and courses.
If you see the grade NOG on your academic record that means that in light of COVID-19 your failed grade has been converted to this grade for the purpose of not showing on your records or being calculated towards your GPA. You will still need to repeat the course and will be liable for any fees associated with the course.
It is important to remember:
Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated in accordance with the Calculation of Grade Point Average Policy (PDF 95k).
Fail grades remain on your official academic transcript.
Fail grades are included in your trimester GPA and cumulative GPA.
You may be eligible for exclusion if you fail the same course three times. Refer to the Academic Standing, Progression and Exclusion Policy (PDF 51k).
Single course of study
If you are a student undertaking a single course of study, you will be required to submit a new application to undertake a failed course again.
