Can I sit a supplementary exam?
Updated 28/06/2023 02.04 PM
You cannot apply to sit a supplementary exam, but you may be granted the opportunity to do so. Supplementary assessment may be awarded to students who:
have submitted all the assessment requirements of the course, and
receive a grade of 3 in a course, or
achieve an overall percentage equivalent to the grade of 3 or higher, but have not achieved a pass or required minimum mark in one or more mandatory pass components for the course; and
the Course Profile specifies that supplementary assessment is available in the course.
In addition to this, if you are due to graduate at the end of the trimester and have not passed one or more final courses* you will be offered a supplementary assessment for each final course irrespective of whether the Course Profile allows supplementary assessment. You must meet the same criteria as stated above to be eligible.
*This excludes honours dissertation courses.
Supplementary assessment is awarded by the School Assessment Board, under the delegated authority of the Dean (Learning & Teaching).
You can find further information at supplementary assessment.
