Hi everyone,
We would like to welcome everyone to the second week of COM151 and hope you are slowly settling in and getting familiar with the course content and the assessments.
Every Monday we will post an announcement like this one (see the announcements tab) to remind you about your weekly topics and tasks.
Tutorial 2 | What is Expected
Task 1: Map a basic timetable for study for the study period, plotting the due dates of assignments. Mark a date a week earlier as the “due date” so that you can give yourself some time for thorough preparation, writing editing. Experiment with using Google Calendar on your computer - plot the Weeks of each Study Period, noting key dates, as well as your other study commitments and activities (just Google “Google Calendar” and follow the prompts!).
Task 1.1 (for advanced learners): Search the Internet to locate 2 or 3 different time management approaches or systems. Briefly describe these 2 or 3 different approaches in your study notes and share your findings with your peers on the Discussion Board. Especially if you’ve found Weeks 1 and 2 to be quite straightforward, you will benefit from starting some more in-depth conversation around the following questions: What are some of the key time management techniques? Which ones seem most effective to you, and why? Which ones have you used successfully? Post your findings on the Discussion Board.
Task 2: Read again through the instructions for the assessment items in the Assessment folder.
Task 3: Read through the criteria sheets for the assignments for this unit provided in the Assessment area. Make sure you have a clear idea of what the criteria is for each assignment.
Task 4: Read the Glossary (under course documents). Make sure you read all entries and pay particular attention to the discussion of first and third person. Which point of view are you expected to use in the course assignments?
